Our Bronco Bike Rodeo was a success! Thank you to the Escondido Police Department and the Escondido COMPACT Education program for facilitating this event. Our students learned riding safety tips while having fun. Students had a chance to get a close look at a Police car and learned very interesting information given by Sargent Leso and went home with sets of lights for their bikes and scooters, a helmet, and other cool safety gadgets.
Hello Broncos,

Congratulations to our 5 Broncos who were Reclassified last Friday. Our theme was: You Made This Dream Come True! They were recognized during our Friday Flag Assembly and celebrated with their families with a delicious Ice Cream Sundae Party after school on Thursday, February 29th.
Special shout out to our ELAC committee ladies who organized this celebration!
Reclassification indicates that an English Language Learner has achieved a level of English proficiency that, without special accommodations related to language, will enable him/her to compete academically with native English-speaking peers. Reclassification means that a student has reached total FLUENCY and no longer requires English learner services.

Last week our Family Engagement Center hosted a very fun Holiday Paint N Sip… Hot Cocoa Day with some of our moms. We created a holiday themed canvas painting under the guidance of our very own Kim Jackson, who inspired us to create a beautiful piece of art while we sipped delicious hot cocoa. Special shout out to our wonderful PTA for sponsoring this event, we are very thankful for your support and leadership.
This week North Broadway and Reidy Creek schools celebrated the end of our Cuentos Familiares Workshop as part of The Latino Literacy Project which is a family reading program designed to establish family reading routines for Spanish-speaking and English-speaking parents and their children at their school site. The program offers quality bilingual books (English/Spanish), English-language development, vocabulary review and an engaging curriculum to promote a focus on family literacy. The program encourages parents to read with their children to enhance their reading and language skills, reflects the experiences of Latino families, and is centered around universal themes.
We believe the partnership between the home and the school is an important part of each student’s success, and “The Latino Family Literacy Project offers us a way to continue this initiative.
Congratulations and thank you to all of our participants for engaging in all the activities with enthusiasm.
