Our 5th graders are manipulating the DNA of some of our most valuable resources such as corn, rice, and tomatoes. They insert appropriate genes in the DNA in order for the resource to adapt to its current environmental challenges. For example, instead of using excessive amounts of water on farms in severe drought areas, our students are discovering how to manipulate genes within the DNA of some of these resources in order for the resources to require less water. Problem solvers? Yes! These are the kinds of thinkers we are inspiring at North Broadway! A huge "thank you" to Life Technologies for inspiring us to think and live better.
