Growing up in the 21st Century

What must it be like to be a child growing up in today's ever-changing world? As parents, we think about this frequently. Education isn't the same as when you and I went to school... It's better. Here's why: North Broadway is thinking ahead. We are innovative thinkers, and we look at the "big picture." What are we doing today that will encourage your child to apply knowledge to the world of tomorrow? We have established 4 key anchors that I think everyone agrees will create a strong foundation for your child's success in the 21st century world. We call them the 4 C's. Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, and Critical Thinking. Think about how often YOU use these skills during your day-to-day living at home or at work. Not only do we use them, but these skills enhance our productivity. For example, one of my responsibilities as your principal is to "communicate" the effectiveness of our school. I must say, that watching our students "collaborate" during a math lesson, and analyzing their thought process is truly adding value to their future. Amazing! I don't remember that kind of emphasis in school 20 years ago... Do you? Let me know what you think...  jhoff@eusd.org Looking forward to communicating with each of you! :)
